GREENE COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa man died after he struck a pheasant in the road and veered his car into a ditch, authorities say.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that an Iowa man died early Friday morning, June 4, 2021, in an auto accident in Greene county. Theodore Wayne Sanford Mcginnis, age 30 of Des Moines, was driving a 2007 Chevy Impala south on J Avenue north of 330th Street at about 4:30 AM when the Patrol says, he struck a pheasant and over-corrected, leading the Impala to crash in a ditch. A 911 call later alerted authorities to the accident and Mcginnis was pronounced dead at the scene.
