Mason City man hurt after driving car into parked truck

MASON CITY – A Mason City man was hurt after he drove his car into a parked truck Tuesday morning.

Mason City police say that Tuesday morning, September 11 at 3:24 AM, a collision was reported in the 500 block of First Street NE. Christopher Sepulveda-Karr, age 24 of Mason City, was driving a Chevy Cobalt eastbound. Sepulveda-Karr crossed the centerline into the westbound lane. His car then collided with a legally-parked panel truck on the north edge of the road. Both vehicles were severely damaged from the impact. Additionally, the Mason City Fire Department had to use mechanical extrication devices to remove the driver from the car and free the two vehicles apart.

Sepulveda-Karp was transported to the hospital with injuries. At this time his condition or extent of injuries is unknown. Charges are pending, and the investigation is on-going.

Sounds like he’s lucky. The most dangerous thing a person does day in, day out is to get behind the wheel and drive. Hands down. Putting the fragile human body into a machine and shooting them around at high rates of speeds sounds like a bad idea. That’s because it is. But hey what are you going to do. Enjoy the ride.
