Citizens need to go to City Hall and ask for a petition from the City Clerk with the proper verbiage to petition the bond issue to come up before the people to vote yes or no.

We need to stop relying on Max Weaver to carry our water for us. He has done enough for us and it’s time we get off our ass and do it ourselves.

Citizens get off your butt and go to city hall and organize.

“Citizens get off your butt and go to city hall and organize.”
So why don’t you get off of your butt and do it?

Max Weaver is the reason why Mason City is the way it is today (declining in population, no new businesses, derelict property everywhere). I do recommend you start looking for a new savior if you ever want to see this town prosper again.

Mason City east is slipping into intercity status and the west side is booming. A split that is causing a twin city of sorts. Crimes such as muggings, robberies, and general thuggery are not far off. Impulsive minded people are everywhere now. There will not be enough jail house beds to accommodate the ne’er-do-wells. There’s something MC can take a crack at for revenue/business….a prison.

Public hearing my butt. It is a total waste of time. They have already made up their minds. Make them bring it to a vote.

I am all for a public vote on this matter, the problem is only about 7% of the voter will participate in the election and 5% of those will be voter that are in favor of the measure. Voters that do not want this will not take the time to vote so it wont matter anyway. Just look at the renaissance/multipurpose vote. Seems the majority of the citizens do not support it yet the measure passed overwhelmingly. Where were all of the no votes on election day?

We still need it to come to a vote of the people. The items that our city government is buying with borrowed money has always been paid out of our “property taxes”.

By bringing it to a vote we can educate the public how our Mayor and City Council is mishandling our tax money. Pass or fail the taxpayers still should have the option to vote on the bond issue. After all this is a mortgage against our homes!

They did everything they could to control the vote. They restricted voting places to make it harder for seniors and called for a vote in the winter when it is harder to get around. They also carefully didn’t put it in the paper or talk about it ahead of time. People no longer take that worthless rag Globe so they need another way to get the word to voter. They could have put a letter in the water bill but then to many voters would have voted and they would have lost and they know it.

The city look like crap. Streets full of potholes. Roads not swept, parks and parkings not mowed but yet they can waste money on this crap.

MAX, where are you when we need you, get that petition filed for a vote of the taxpayers

just hold onto your arse, its just the beginning. just like the worthless motel project, NO NEW TAXES. I said at that time they will use monies that they already have to poor down the rat hole and then say WE NEED MORE to take care of everyday business since we spent the nest egg. Im gunna buy some shares of Vaseline, its bound to go up in value

Their good at squandering your hard earned money – they are called non producers in the conservative world known as private sector known as producers – (of tax money to pay their non conservative friends. stacked deck !

We pay property taxes to pay for this stuff. We need a petition to bring it to a vote!!!!

Isn’t why the water bill went up last time?
