MASON CITY – A woman already caught drunk driving once this year was caught a second time early Friday morning as she cruised the streets of Mason City.
A Cerro Gordo county deputy conducted a traffic stop after midnight Friday near 11th Street NE and Carolina Avenue due to an equipment violation. During the traffic stop, the deputy encountered the driver, 19-year-old Kilaeua Birder Zsaquila Gainey, address unknown. As a result of the stop and investigation, Gainey was arrested for operating while under the influence, driving while revoked, driving under suspension, providing false information, minor consumption of alcohol, no SR-22 insurance and no liability insurance. A passenger was cited for minor consumption of alcohol.
Gainey was taken to the county jail, booked, and remains held on $1,000 bond.
Gainey was stopped and arrested by Mason City police back on January 18 for first offense operating while intoxicated. On March 9, she pleaded not guilty and awaits a March trial. This charge caused her license to be suspended.
In addition, since that arrest, Gainey has been accused of driving with that suspended license at least three times. Once in Black Hawk county on January 21 (charge was dismissed), twice in Chickasaw county on February 1 and February 10.
