Mason City teen arrested after hit-and-run collision

MASON CITY – Police were called to investigate a collision Monday and discovered a teen driver behind the wheel, allegedly intoxicated.

Monday at about noon, Mason City police responded to the area of the 000 block of 8th Street SE reference a vehicle that had been struck and a driver who had left the scene.
Officers soon located the suspect vehicle in the general area. After an investigation, the driver, 16-year-old Hunter James Pietig of Mason city, was arrested for multiple offenses. Jailers told NIT that Pietig was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while under the influence, failure to maintain control, failure to prove security against liability, striking an unattended vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Pietig was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail and later released.

This kid along with his sister have had way too many chances. It’s long overdue that the court start punishing them for their offenses.

I’m thinking that it runs in the family, his sister was just caught on 12th NW OWI.
