Iowa City house fire causes thousands in damages

IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 1:08 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 55 Amber Lane. Reports indicated the home and deck were on fire.

IOWA CITY – The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 1:08 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 55 Amber Lane. Reports indicated the home and deck were on fire.

Responding units encountered a fire contained to the porch area of the home. The fire was brought under control in approximately five minutes. The occupants of the home had exited the residence prior to fire department arrival.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. The fire, which caused approximately $15,000 in damages, remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Department’s Fire Marshal.

The Iowa City Fire Department was assisted by the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center, Johnson County Ambulance Service, Iowa City Police, and Iowa City Animal Services.
