December 5, 1963 – February 13, 2026
Lisa Ann Payne, 62, passed away in her home on February 13, 2026.
In accordance with Lisa’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no public services will be held at this time.
Lisa was born on December 5, 1963, in California, to Mike Payne and Joyce (Mueller) Paxson. She graduated from Hart High School in Newhall, California, and stepped confidently into adulthood with a strong desire to work and build her own path.
That independent spirit led her into a variety of jobs right after high school. Lisa discovered a love for trucking, a career that sparked her adventurous heart and deepened her love of travel. Over the years, her journey carried her from California to Washington, Georgia, and eventually to Iowa, where she would make her home.
In Iowa, Lisa worked at the Fairfield Inn in Clear Lake. Though she began at the front desk, her strong work ethic and willingness to help wherever needed led her to take on many roles. She was someone who naturally stepped up, eager to learn and ready to lend a hand.
Lisa was a fierce and determined woman with a free spirit. While she loved the open road and the excitement of travel, she also felt a deep connection to small-town and country living. She enjoyed life fully, loved to have fun, and could always be counted on to bring laughter and good times. Easy to talk to and warm in spirit, Lisa formed lasting bonds wherever she went. She was especially devoted to those she loved, always willing to do whatever she could for family and friends.
Lisa is survived by her son, Sherman Payne; her sister, Laurie Geniec (Scott Zblewski); her aunt, Judy Lewis; her niece, Colby Clark; her nephew, Drake Geniec; and many cousins and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike Payne and Joyce Paxson.
