OBIT: Helma Kathryn (Wilslef) Schultz

Helma Kathryn (Wilslef) Schultz was born to Melvin and Jean Wilslef on Leap Year Feb. 29, 1940 at Maquoketa, Iowa. She and her family resided in Wyoming, Iowa where Helma attended school K-12 graduating in 1958.

Helma Kathryn (Wilslef) Schultz was born to Melvin and Jean Wilslef on Leap Year Feb. 29, 1940 at Maquoketa, Iowa. She and her family resided in Wyoming, Iowa where Helma attended school K-12 graduating in 1958.

On Dec. 27, 1959 Helma was united in marriage with Rowan Schultz at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. They moved to Eagle Grove in 1961 and raised 2 daughters.

Helma taught elementary school in Eagle Grove for 20 years and was a member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music, flowers, embroidery and quilting.

Helma is survived by her daughters, Susan Schultz of Ankeny, Patty (Phil) Abels, Ankeny; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Oleson, Polk City, IA, Amanda Harding, Ankeny, Nicholas Abels, Ankeny; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Isaiah, Addison and Emmerson Oleson and Spencer Harding.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rowan, brothers Glenn and Marvin Wilslef and sister Connie Brodersen.

Helma had a deep love for children and animals. She cared for many dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, turtles and hermit crabs throughout her life. The family requests that any memorials be sent to: Lazy J Rescue Ranch 1078 230th St. Goldfield, IA 50542

A private family service will be held at a later date.
