James “Jim” A. Lothe was born on September 24, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Victor and Lorraine Lothe. He passed away on January 2, 2026 at Rotary Ann Senior Living in Eagle Grove, Iowa.
Jim attended Thor elementary school and Eagle Grove High School. He lived on a farm southeast of Thor and was proud to be farming a family centennial farm until 2007. He was a faithful member of Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. In 2014, Jim moved into the Rotary Ann and enjoyed the fellowship of the residents living there. He could always be found in the lounge talking with other residents. He always had a smile and a greeting for all.
Growing up, Jim was involved in 4-H and showed a reserve grand champion heifer at the Humboldt County Fair and at the Ak-Sar-Ben Stock Show in Omaha, NE. After his school years, Jim was active in the summers with softball and bowling in the winter. One of his favorite activities was playing Bingo at the Senior Center.
Jim is survived by two sisters, Loretta (Ron) Baker of Eagle Grove, Ruth (Darrell) Vetter of Henning, MN, and a brother, Vic (Janet) Lothe of New Auburn, WI. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lorraine.
Funeral services will be held on June 8th at 2:00PM the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Fellowship luncheon following the service. Jim will be laid to rest at the East Ullensvang Cemetery, Thor, IA.
