James “Jim” Anderson, age 83 of Emmetsburg, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 in his home. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Services have been entrusted to Martin Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

James Anderson was born on July 11, 1942, in Joliet, Illinois.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bonnie Johnson Anderson, father, Alton Anderson; his mother, Evelyn Anderson; and his sister, Lorraine Harper (George).

James proudly served his country in the United States Navy for two tours on the USS Boston as a gunner’s mate in 1964-5.

Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years of hard work to Commonwealth Edison in Joliet, where he built a career marked by loyalty and perseverance.

After retirement, James and his wife Bonnie moved to Emmetsburg, Iowa, where they embraced a quieter life filled with simple joys. He especially loved fishing and hosting family gatherings, creating lasting memories with those he cared for most. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he enjoyed men’s life and bible study.

James is survived by his wife’s son, Jeremy Johnson (Kara); his cherished granddaughter, Lily; and several nieces and nephews who will remember him with affection and gratitude.

James will be remembered for his quiet presence, devotion to family, and the life he built through service and hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
