November 27, 1983 – December 13, 2025

Denny Peterson, 42, of Forest City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at his home.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Friday, December 19th from 4:00–6:00 P.M at Schott Funeral Home, 505 N Clark St. Forest City, IA 50436.

Burial of Denny’s cremains will take place in the spring at West Prairie Church Cemetery, rural Leland, IA.

Dennis Robert Peterson was born on November 27, 1983 in Mason City, IA, the son of David and Robin (Blankenship) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church. Denny was raised in Leland, IA and attended and graduated from Forest City High School. While in high school, he was involved in FFA and directly after graduating he got a job at Golden Oval and he later became involved in farming with his father and grandfather. He also worked at a hog confinement for some time.

Denny attended and graduated from the Pappajohn Center at NIACC in the 2000’s. He was married to Casie Thompson on March 21, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. Through this marriage, he gained a step-son, Aiden Richardson. They later divorced.

He lived in Reno, NV from 2011 to 2021. While living in Reno he delivered lost luggage around the Reno and Lake Tahoe area. He returned to Forest City in 2021, where he purchased a house and returned to farming with his family. Just this fall he combined, hauled loads, and worked the ground all by himself. His dad and grandpa would have been so proud of him.

Denny enjoyed researching and learning new things. He loved his dogs, Kane and Pepper, birds/poultry, and fish. He enjoyed road trips with his dogs, fishing, listening to music, and farming- especially driving the semi and more recently running the combine and skid loader! He collected tools and was a good mechanic and enjoyed electrical work. Spending time with his two nieces, Claire and Sophie, brought him great joy. Denny was a sweet, smart, talented man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Denny is survived by his mother, Robin Peterson of Forest City; sister, Tracy (Travis) Jordan of Garner; stepson, Aiden Richardson of Clear Lake; grandmother, Jean Peterson of Leland; aunts, Nancy (Bruce) Buffington, Tammy Callahan, and Leslie Grothe, all of Forest City; uncle, Todd (Jonie) Blankenship of Leland; nieces, Claire and Sophia Jordan; as well as many cousins, and other extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Peterson; grandfather, Allen Peterson; grandparents, Robert and Janice Blankenship; and cousins Heather and Tera.
