Leland "Lee" “Shorty” Lawrence Wulff, 91, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Iowa. A funeral service for Lee will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City.

Leland “Lee” “Shorty” Lawrence Wulff, 91, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Iowa.

A funeral service for Lee will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Dave Hill and Rhonda Higby from West St. Charles United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the West St. Charles Cemetery in rural Charles City.

Visitation for Lee will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home and continue one hour before the service on Wednesday.

Lee was born on January 17, 1934, to Lawrence and Elsie (Melcher) Wulff at the L. R. Wulff home. He attended rural school at Downs Ulster District No. 8 and McKinley School in Charles City. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1953. After graduating from high school, Lee went to California and worked as a firefighter in Redding, California. After some time, he returned to Charles City to farm. He also worked at Oliver in Charles City in the mid-50’s as a sheet metal press operator and on the assembly line and also for Bob Kirsch doing body work. He married Marilyn Carey on July 30, 1960. They had two children, Brenda and Brian. In later years he worked at Diversified Fasteners in Charles City along with farming. He raised beef cattle, farrow to finish hogs until 1996 and custom combined corn, beans, oats and windrowed oats for many of the neighbors.

Lee enjoyed going to Canada fishing, car races, and tractor pulls. He also enjoyed pulling his own truck called the “Track Rat”. Lee and Marilyn traveled many places in the United States including Hawaii and Alaska as well as Norway throughout the years. He and Marilyn participated in two card clubs for many years. He also enjoyed having coffee with friends at AgVantage FS in the mornings.

Lee was a past member of the Floyd County Pork Producers, and was on the Board of Directors for the Farm Service Coop.

Lee is survived by his children, Brenda (Mike) Ploeger and Brian (Gina) Wulff; two grandchildren, Joni Ploeger (Jeremy Lippert) and Kati (Paul) Theroux; sister, Joyce (Jim) Shover; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, of 56 years, grandsons Jordan and Jadon Wulff, his parents, Lawrence and Elsie Wulff, and his brothers, Ronald and Myron Wulff.
