MASON CITY – This Mason City woman with a history of bad driving decisions was cruising a residential neighborhood late Sunday, possibly enjoying a frothy, fermented beverage, when an officer put a stop to the potentially dangerous joyride.
According to Mason City police, the incident took place on Sunday, November 23, 2025. At 11:37 PM that night, near 14th Street SE and South Penn Avenue, a traffic stop and investigation was conducted. This led to the discovery of an open container of alcohol, and the driver, 37-year-old Brandy Ann Huff of Mason City, found to be intoxicated. Huff was arrested on the following charges:
- 321J.2(2)(b) – OWI — 2nd Offense
-
Open Container — Driver (21 Years Old or Older
Huff (pictured at top) was taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail and booked in at 1:50 AM. She was soon released on her own recognizance as she awaits a hearing set for December 12.
Huff was nabbed for drunk driving by the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office back in 2016. This cost her $1896.50. She apparently was awarded a drunk driving school certificate (to avoid jail time) later that year, but perhaps the passage of time wore off any benefit gained from it.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety claims that around 37% of all traffic deaths in Iowa involve impairment, based on data from the past five years.
