April 22, 1945 – November 19, 2025
Betty Frimml, 80, of Iowa Falls, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. No services are planned at this time. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Betty and her family.
Betty Jane Zemke Frimml was born on April 22, 1945 to Herman and Gerda (Simonsen) Zemke in Racine, Wisconsin. Betty attended school in Racine and graduated from Washington Park High School. She had many jobs throughout her life but her position with the USDA of eight years as an agricultural inspector is what stands out. Betty had 4 children: Kerri, Crystal, Shawn and Robin.
There were many things that Betty enjoyed including her cat, Happy. She adored and was very proud of her daughter, Kerri. Some of her hobbies included rummage sales and shopping with Kerri. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, being outside, reading, puzzles, owls and Elvis.
Betty was a very strong-willed woman. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She showed this by fighting and surviving breast cancer and a car accident involving a drunk driver. Thanks to the help of her daughter Kerri, she recovered from many health struggles. She was diagnosed with COPD last November and had been in and out of the hospital after a fall, when she succumbed to her illnesses and passed away peacefully with her daughter Kerri by her side at MercyOne in Waterloo.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kerri Reid of Hampton, Iowa, Crystal (Ron) Fox of Racine, Wisconsin, Shawn Reid of Racine, Wisconsin; brother, Leroy Zemke of Racine, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Michael Jr Reid-Woods, Autumn, Jordan and Mariah; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very special friend, Paula Cox and her daughter, Monique and close neighbors, Marcelo (Maria) Flores. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Gerda Zemke; daughter, Robin Reid; her brothers: William, Rinehart, Eugene, Carl and her sisters: Nancy, Andrea and Judith.
No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may be directed to Kerri Reid at 2270 175th St Hampton, Iowa 50441. Also donations may be sent to any ASPCA in Betty’s honor, as this was her favorite charity.
