Larry E. Kruse Sr., 84, of Forest City passed away peacefully after an illness on November 18, 2025 at his home.

Upon Larry’s wishes he will be cremated and no services will be planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and condolences may be directed to his family, 350 South 8th St., Forest City, Iowa 50436.

Larry Ernest Kruse was born June 5, 1941 in Lakefield, Minnesota, the son of John and Henrietta (Beers) Kruse.

After school he entered the United States Army and served for 23 years where he retired as Master Sergeant E8.

He returned to Forest City and first worked, then owned and operated the Forest City Bakery (Best Donuts Around) from 1989-2000/2001. After he sold the bakery, he went on to work at Bill’s Family Foods in their bakery for a short time but he could not sit still for long. Not long after that he went to work for Brian & Pam Wilson at Shooterz Bar & Grill in Forest City.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deb of Forest City; sons, Larry Jr (Danielle) and Eric (Kandee); grandchildren, Gabby, Kaleb, Nadia, Ethan, Gavin, Ryder, Cooper, and Buxton; sister, Pat Pearson; and many other family members who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Henrietta; brother, Bob; niece, LeeAnn; sister-in-law, Carol; brothers-in-law, Gene Pearson, Dick Ottoson, and Donald Sjoquist; father- and mother- in-law; and many other family members.
