Linda L. Baker, 77, of Sumner, died Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Hillcrest Chapel in Sumner. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, rural Westgate. Memorials may be made in Linda’s name to the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Linda Lou, daughter of Keith and Marcella (Mai) Baker was born August 17, 1948, at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein. She was baptized October 10, 1948, at Murphy E.U.B., rural Westgate, and was later confirmed there. Linda attended Special Education Schools around Northeast Iowa. She worked on the family’s farm, rural Westgate and was very dedicated to her work. Linda was a faithful and active member of Murphy E.U.B. For a little over the past ten years, she has been a resident of the Hillcrest Campus, where she has made a lot of friends and enjoyed all of the activities and conversations. Linda enjoyed knitting, watching fireworks, conversations on the phone with family and friends, and loved watching N.A.S.C.A.R, with her favorite driver being Jeff Gordon. She was a very thoughtful person, never forgetting to send a card to a family member for their special dates.
Linda is survived by her siblings, Phyllis Clay of Bloomington, Illinois, Sandy Reed of Sumner, Mary (Mike) Hurd of Marshalltown, and Steve (MaryAnn) Baker of Westgate; sister-in-law, Betty Baker of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; and her Hillcrest Family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Baker; and brothers-in-law, Donald Clay and Charlie Reed.
