Margy Etta Avery, 98, of Clear Lake, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Oakwood Care Center.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield, Iowa, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating.

Margy was born on May 8, 1927, in Chelsea, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Nancy (Willey) Wilkinson. She graduated from Chelsea High School and entered the workforce in food service as a waitress.

She was united in marriage to Frank Spinler Jr., and together they were blessed with two children, Allen and Luci. The family made their home in Iowa, where they raised their children.

On January 20, 1982, Margy was married to Bruce Avery at the Manly Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Dows, Iowa, and shared many happy years together.

Margy will be remembered as a loving and caring person. She was a fabulous cook and baker, especially known for her pies and chocolate chip cookies. She and Bruce enjoyed working on woodworking projects together, crafting furniture and grandfather clocks, as well as spending time fishing. Margy also loved photography and captured countless special moments of family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son-in-law, Dennis Blanchard; 5 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Shirley Cepelak, Bernard (Vera) Wilkinson, and Jack (Cathy) Wilkinson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Nancy Wilkinson; her husband, Bruce Avery; her children, Allen Spinler and Luci Blanchard; siblings, Lavina (Kent), Bette, Ernie, and Keith; and sisters-in-law, Esther and Marie.
