RURAL FAYETTE COUNTY – Police in this remote Northern Iowa area observed a driver leaving a ditch and made a drunk driving arrest.
On July 9, 2025, at approximately 4:46 PM, a Fayette County Deputy observed a vehicle exiting a ditch near the intersection of 90th Street and K Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle near the intersection of 100th Street and L Avenue. Upon further investigation, David Joseph Hassman, age 61 of Sumner, Iowa was placed under arrest for Operating While under the Influence 1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor.
He was transported to the Fayette County jail and held for an initial appearance.
