
IOWA CITY – Police in this Iowa college town say a mob of riotous small town dude bros were prowling the booze-soaked downtown ped mall area when they jumped another man and beat him senseless.
The incident took place in Iowa City, home of the Hawkeyes, and plenty of mischief on any given occasion – especially in the downtown area where the booze flows like wine and the troublemakers hunt prey. At 12:12 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, Iowa City Police responded to the 200 block of East College Street for a report of a man who had been assaulted by three individuals. According to a police report, at least three men followed and attacked another male after a mutual physical altercation in the Ped Mall, a downtown area loaded with bars and fellas itching to impersonate Mike Tyson. Police claim one suspect grabbed the victim from behind, pinning the victim’ s arms behind their back as another suspect struck the victim in the face. Once the victim fell to the ground, all three suspects proceeded to punch, kick, and stomp the victim, even after the victim was unconscious.
The victim received numerous injuries as a result of this assault, including: a broken nose, a broken finger, lacerations to the ear and lip requiring stitches, bruising / injuries to the face, abrasions to the elbow and knee, laceration to the back of the head.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police produced three persons of interest and released photos of them to the public.
Just this week, new developments in the case arose. As a result of the investigation into the Dec. 14, 2024, assault, the Iowa City Police Department arrested two individuals.

Both face charges of Willful Injury and Participate in a Riot.
