INDEPENDENCE, IOWA – Law enforcement in this Northern Iowa county announced numerous recent arrests for week of December 29, 2024 to January 4, 2025.
On Sunday, December 29, 2024 at approximately 3:15 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Isabel Marie Rodriquez, 19, and Mekhi Semaj Gossitt, 18, both of Cedar Rapids. Rodriquez was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana (serious misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). Gossitt was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana (serious misdemeanor). These arrests were made following a disturbance in the 1700 block Golf Course Blvd.
On Sunday, December 29, 2024 at approximately 6:00 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Tracy Jean Cummer, 24, of Lamont. Cummer was charged with Reckless Use of Firearm (aggravated misdemeanor) and Animal Abuse (serious misdemeanor). This arrest was made following an incident in the 1000 block Oak Street in Lamont.
On Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at approximately 2:05 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Danrius Braxton, 29, of Cedar Rapids. Braxton was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for Failure to Appear and was taken into custody from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at approximately 11:55 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Tonia Marie Reynolds, 45, of Strawberry Point. Reynolds was charged with first offense Operating While Intoxicated (serious misdemeanor) and cited for Driving on Wrong Side of Two-Way Highway. This arrest was made near the 260 mile marker of Hwy 20 after multiple 911 reports of a wrong-way driver.
On Thursday, January 02, 2025 at approximately 8:30 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Cory Lynn Kotenbrink, 45, of Hampton. Kotenbrink was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for an original charge of Protection Order Violation (simple misdemeanor) and was held at the Buchanan County Jail.
On Thursday, January 02, 2025 at approximately 6:00 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Matthew John Chase, 40, of Fairbank. Chase was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Buchanan County for an original charge of Protection Order Violation (simple misdemeanor). This arrest was made in the 400 block Lakeside Drive in Fairbank, Iowa.
On Thursday, January 02, 2025 at approximately 8:25 pm, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Sidney Frank McMartin, 31, of Jesup. McMartin was charged with Protection Order Violation (simple misdemeanor) and held at the Buchanan County Jail.
On Friday, January 03, 2025 at approximately 11:20 am, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Joel Longoria, Jr., 39, of Fayette. Longoria was arrested on an active arrest warrant out of Fayette County for Failure to Appear. This arrest was made in the 700 block of Washburn Avenue in Lamont, Iowa.
