MASON CITY – Some potentially frisky pool behavior has landed a Mason City woman in hot water with authorities, as she is charged with a crime after allegedly groping a boy.
Mason City police tell NIT that they filed a charge of aggravated misdemeanor indecent contact with a child on September 9, 2024, against 38-year-old Skye Lee Lovik of Mason City. This is a violation of Iowa code 709.12(1)(b). According to a Mason City police, the criminal complaint alleges that “three years ago the defendant and victim were in an outdoor pool at a private residence…the defendant grabbed the clothing covering the immediate area of the groin without consent of the victim.”
The alleged crime took place on July 1, 2021, records show.
Lovik was actually booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail for processing on the afternoon of September 8, 2024, and quickly released.
A source contacted NIT about the case, corroborating the pool detail from police. The source told NIT, “The Cerro Gordo County Inmates Facebook page unfortunately missed her mugshot and she was booked and released. I’m hoping to get this information out there. If she groomed (redacted for privacy of alleged victim) for the past several years all while being my best friend, I’m very concerned on what else she could be capable of.”
The source continued, telling NIT, “She was my best friend for 10 years … back in December/January she was at my house and she entered the bedroom of (alleged teen victim) and rubbed his shoulders and asked if he wanted to cuddle. That night is when she had made a comment about betting his has a big (redacted because NIT is a family-friendly news source).
“(Alleged teen victim) ended up confiding in a close friend on what had happened. He often talked to her about stuff that was bothering him. He told her that a few summers back she had grabbed his (redacted again) in my backyard pool. He had a friend with him also that was aware this had happened.”
Lovik has hired local attorney Richard Piscopo, Jr., and has waived a preliminary court hearing.
