SHEFFIELD – A well-liked park in Sheffield is losing a favorite child play area due to safety concerns from the town’s insurance company.
“Regrettably, our Insurance Company has asked us to remove the large play structure at city park from service immediately due to safety concerns,” according to a statement from the city of Sheffield.
“In addition to the safety concerns of the playground equipment, it has been agreed to also remove the City Park Gazebo as it is not financially feasible on the limited city funds to restore it to all of its glory. The combination of age and vandalism has weighed heavily on our city park these past few years. As a city, we are committed to providing our residents with safe and attractive recreational areas. With the new surveillance system in town, we feel comfortable with moving forward in working with the community to replace these features when funds allow.”
Sheffield citizens weighed in on the problem. One local woman bemoaned, “My children played on that equipment regularly. The floor of the play structure had rusted and was starting to have holes in places. I am disappointed.”
However, a fix may be in the works, as city hall responded, “we also are disappointed but look forward to replacing it with something fun and new.”

have sukup replace it all, they own most of the town
Must be a Dem, you like spending other people’s money.
Maybe instead help them set up a fund raiser to get approved equipment.
