Lori was born July 7, 1960 in Mason City; daughter of LaVerne “Ed” and Dorothy (Best) Scheffel. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1978 and 1980 from Spencer School of Business in Spencer, Iowa. In Spencer she met the love of her life, Kent Beatty. They were united in marriage on August 6, 1983. In 1986 they welcomed their daughter Whitney into their lives. While in Spencer Lori worked at Iowa State Extension Office, Hawkeye Bank, and the Flower Pot. In 1990, they moved to Mason City. In Mason City she worked at Liberty Bank, Principal Financial Group, and for almost 25 years until her retirement in June of 2022 she was a secretary at John Adams Middle School. Of all her roles, her most cherished one was being a grandma to Hayden.

Lori loved spending time outdoors whether it be on the patio, enjoying the many flowers she planted, or going for convertible rides with her husband and friends. She cherished the time she spent with her family. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her granddaughter Hayden and her granddog Kip. She was so proud to become a grandma and spoiled her every chance she got. She loved holidays and looked forward to decorating her home for each holiday and season. Christmas was her favorite holiday where she went all out on decorating and making her tree look just perfect, every wire had to be hidden. She even had a tree decorated for her favorite team the Iowa Hawkeyes. She and Kent spent many fall Saturdays at Iowa Hawkeye football games. She enjoyed all sports, whether it be her playing 6 on 6 basketball, to attending all of Whitney’s sporting events, to watching all Iowa Hawkeye games, and to becoming a recent Indiana Fever fan! She loved to host gatherings for just about any occasion and was up for playing a card game no matter if it was 10:00 at night. She especially enjoyed playing 500.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kent; daughter Whitney (Kyle) Germundson; granddaughter, Hayden; granddog Kip, Brother-in-law Kurt (Colleen) Beatty, Sister-in-laws Kelley (John) Molitor, Karla Lunn, and Linda Ringham, as well as nieces and nephews Emily Belk (Christopher), Matthew Beatty, Jennifer Marzen (Ryan), Trevor Molitor (Cassidy), Tanner Molitor, Lexi Lunn, Becca Lunn, Patricia (Benjamin) Bentley, and John Ringham; great nephews and nieces; Jackson Belk, Adeline Belk, Eziekel Marzen, Elijah Marzen, Adalynn Molitor, Kabree Molitor, many friends, and extended family.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Ed and Dorothy Scheffel; brother, Mike Ringham; parents-in-law, Bob and Peg Beatty; nephew, Tyler Molitor; brother-in-law, Ryan Lunn.
