This type of ceremony dates back to the days of horse-drawn equipment when members had to push equipment into the bay.
Beginning in the 1800s, after crews returned from a call on horse-drawn equipment, the animals were unable to back into the station, requiring members to detach the horses and push the equipment into the bay. With the invention of the motorized apparatus, the need to manually move the equipment was gone.
Now, in honor of those early crews, the Clear Lake Fire Department will be holding the Push-In ceremony for the cities new fire truck. We are inviting the community to join us in this most unique event. There will be coffee and cookies and drinks as well as a chance to look and examine the new truck. The station and Fire Museum will be open for those that wish to tour both.
The Clear Lake Fire Department is inviting the public to attend this special event.
