KOSSUTH COUNTY – The Kossuth county sheriff’s office recognized Lane Mitchell as their October 2023 Citizen of the Month for spreading goodwill through reading.

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office said:

We are “honored to recognize Lany Mitchell of Wesley as our October 1440 Citizen of the Month! Lany is the librarian and community center organizer and is known for her pivotal role in fostering a love for reading and learning among individuals of all ages. She is known to facilitate children’s reading programs that lay the foundation for lifelong learning!

“Lany’s contagious life loving attitude is always evident throughout the numerous community and school events she either organizes or volunteers for to make them successful. Her nomination states that “Lany fosters a sense of belonging, unity, and cultural appreciation among area residents”. Congratulations to Lany Mitchell for being selected as the October Kossuth County 1440 Citizen of the Month!

“1440 stands for the number of minutes in a day that we all can provide positive attitudes toward helping others! Thank you to our area sponsors of HyVee of Algona, KLGA Hometown Radio, The Kossuth Advance, Casey’s of Algona, The Bancroft Register, and the Swea City Herald-Press.”

If you know of someone that lives or works in Kossuth County that demonstrates a positive attitude toward helping others, you can nominate them by going to the Kossuth County Sheriff FaceBook page and submit your nomination.
