MASON CITY – A Sheffield truck driver was hurt in an accident near Mason City Monday evening.
On July 17, 2023, at 6:04 PM, Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of 300th Street and Killdeer Avenue for a semi-truck and trailer rollover. The driver, Nicholas Ries, 36, of Sheffield, Iowa, was driving a 2013 Freightliner semi-truck with a loaded trailer when he failed to navigate a right turn onto Killdeer Avenue. The semi-truck and trailer entered the ditch and rolled. Ries suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Mason City Fire Department. Ries was cited for fail to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Mason City Fire Department, Clear Lake Fire Department, and Lake Towing.
