CEDAR FALLS – A woman was allegedly accidentally shot and suffered critical injuries this weekend while sitting in a Cedar Falls Walmart parking lot with her family in the vehicle.
On December 3, 2022, at approximately 1:04 PM, Cedar Falls Police, Cedar Falls Fire Rescue and MercyOne Paramedics were dispatched by the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center to a report of a shooting in progress in the WalMart parking lot at 525 Brandilynn Blvd. Initial information indicated that a female had suffered an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, officers determined that the female victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of a 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup. Her husband was seated in the front passenger seat and three children were seated in the back seat of the truck.
The female victim was transported to MercyOne Waterloo for treatment of critical injuries. Names of the involved parties are not being released at this time.
The incident is currently under investigation, but there is no threat to the public.
