RURAL ALGONA – An Iowa man is dead in a rural Northern Iowa motorcycle accident.

On July 2, 2022, at about 11:48 PM, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a motorcycle in the ditch near the corner of 240th Street and 140th Avenue, about 3/4 miles south of the Oak Lake entrance. Algona EMS and officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Algona Police Department, and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

The driver, 43-year-old Matthew Dean Strable of Urbandale, Iowa, was located near the motorcycle and was determined to be deceased at the scene by Algona EMS.

The Kossuth County Sheriffs Office, Algona Police, Algona EMS, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Kossuth County Medical Examiners Office all assisted in the investigation.

The Medical Examiner ordered an autopsy at the State Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny to determine the cause of death and the Iowa State Patrol will investigate the accident. It appears the driver was southbound on 140th Avenue and failed to negotiate the curve near the 240th Street intersection.
