Charles City man issued ticket after $5,000 auto accident

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man was issued a ticket after a $5,000 auto accident.

The incident took place on June 28, 2021. At 3:27 PM that day, officers with the Charles City Police Department investigated a two-vehicle traffic accident at the 900 block of Kelly Street. A silver 2013 Dodge Journey, driven by 74-year-old Kenneth Boggess of Charles City, was traveling eastbound on Kelly Street and turning into the Hy-Vee Pharmacy pick-up when it was struck by a gold 2012 Ford F150, driven by 63-year-old Orville Hills of Charles City, who was attempting to pass it on its left side.

No injuries were reported.

The estimated cost of damage is $5,000.

Hillis was issued a citation for unsafe passing.
