Iowa couple busted after thousands of dollars stolen from Salvation Army

MARION, IOWA – An Iowa couple was busted after thousands of dollars were stolen from a Salvation Army.

Jennifer Lynn Cronan, age 46, and Matthew Dean Cronan, age 50, both of Marion, Iowa, were arrested for first-degree theft after a theft. Matthew Cronan is accused of taking approximately $26,600 worth of gift cards from the safe at The Salvation Army, 1000 C Avenue NW in Cedar Rapids while he was working as a seasonal employee. He used the gift cards to purchase items from several Walmart locations between November 20, 2020 and March 9, 2021. Jennifer Cronan is accused of being complicit in using the gift cards to purchase items from several Walmart locations while knowing the cards had been acquired illegally. Some of the property purchased with the stolen gift cards was recovered at their residence.

Both were arrested on May 12 at their Marion residence and transported to the Linn County Correctional Center.
