Mason City man dead in Mitchell county car crash

RURAL MITCHELL COUNTY – A Mason City man is dead after a one-car accident in rural Mitchell county.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on May 4, 2021 at about 4:43 AM. A 2002 Buick Century driven by 24-year-old Nathan Aaron Kettwig of Mason City was southbound near the 3800 block of Red Ball Road in Mitchell county when he lost control of the vehicle as he crossed railroad tracks. The Buick entered the west ditch and rolled.

As a result of the crash, Kettwig was killed. A passenger, 24-year-old Jenalyn Rose Funte of Clarksville, Iowa was injured and transported to a hospital in Osage.
