Two-vehicle accident Friday morning near Mason City leaves North Iowans with injuries

RURAL MASON CITY – A two-vehicle accident just outside Mason City left North Iowans with injuries early Friday morning.

An accident with injuries was reported at 220th Street and Highway 65 Friday morning around 5:32 AM. A white 2002 Buick Lesabre driven by 29-year-old Louis Broom of Mason City was southbound on Highway 65 and lost control of his vehicle, crossing the center line. A 2011 Chevy Traverse driven by 41-year-old Amy Wike of Rockwell was northbound and struck the Buick. The driver of the Buick, Louis Broom, was taken to Mercy One North Iowa Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Amy Wike, and her passenger, 14-year-old Braden Thomson both declined transport. The accident remains under investigation

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Rockwell Fire Department and Mason City Fire Department.
