MASON CITY – A Mason City man accused of felony solicitation of a minor has entered a not-guilty plea and is set to stand trial in November.
Mason City police filed a charge of class D felony prostitution against 38-year-old David Welsher, who claims via his public social media account to live in Mason City and work as “Staff Development Manager at Subway (KGB Inc.)”
A criminal complaint was filed against Welsher by Mason City police on June 18, alleging a violation of Iowa code 725.1(2)(b), which states, “A person who purchases or offers to purchase services as a partner in a sex act from a person who is under the age of eighteen commits a class ‘D’ felony.” The alleged crime was committed on August 23, 2019, records show.
Welsher was jailed but released to the custody of Iowa corrections on June 19.
At a July 28 arraignment, a public defender entered a plea of not-guilty for Welsher. A pretrial conference is scheduled for November 9, 2020 at 1:00 PM and a jury trial is scheduled for November 24, 2020.

David has Always!! been seen with younger adult men, he has done this as long as I’ve known him 25 years at least. I couldn’t ever figure out why one would wanna do this. The only conclusion is that he lured these guys with gifts, money, promises, Ect… to get into their pants for a quick moment of what he thought was a Rush, Pleasure, Controlment, whatever you wanna call it. All this time you have been preying on younger adult men that makes you a Sex Offender.
I am very sure there are others over the years that this has happened to, Come forward and come out of the closet completely to the victims. This guy played you and pressured you into doing things you wouldn’t normally do. David Welsher has made a bad name to the North Iowa GLBTQ community. He needs to be held accountable for his actions.
As a longtime member for the North Iowa GLBTQ community, I am ashamed to see that his involvement and representation is NOT what North Iowa GLBTQ members are about. David has tarnished the image of GLBTQ members who still have to live here.

From what I see and can piece together, most members of that community are Democrats/ liberals, not Trump supporters.
Trump supporters are usually conservative, believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, 2 genders ( male and female), and are prolife.
I feel if Biden is elected, you are going to see a lot more of this.
