CEDAR RAPIDS – An Iowa man is in jail today after police say he tried to murder a woman Monday in Cedar Rapids.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department has arrested 30-year-old Anthony Michael Depolis for Attempted Murder, Willful Injury, and Domestic Abuse Assault with Weapon. He was identified as the suspect who stabbed 37-year old Diana Depolis at Creekside Apartments monday morning.
Anthony Depolis has been transported to the Linn County Jail. Diana Depolis remains hospitalized.
Cedar Rapids police officers were called to a stabbing incident at Creekside Apartments, 3009 12th Avenue SW, at 9:07 a.m. on Monday, July 6. Officers arrived on scene to find Diana Depolis suffering from multiple stab wounds.
First responders provided emergency medical care to the victim, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital by Area Ambulance Service. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries.
Police say the incident appears to be a domestic disturbance that resulted in serious injury. There is still an active, ongoing investigation.
This man was my sister, Diana Depolis, ex husband. There were multiple police reports for months about the threats and none of them were taken seriously. Since when is making death threats legal or something to shrug off. This would not have happened if we didnt have a legal system that protects the predators rights over the normal citizens who just want to live a peaceful existence.
Madness.
