CHARLES CITY – Two Charles City men were arrested after a fight in parking lot this past weekend.
On the morning of June 13, 2020, at about 10:11 AM, officers with the Charles City police department were sent to the 2200 block of Clarkview Drive to investigate an assault. As a result of that investigation, Shawndell Phillip Smith, age 25 of Charles City was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor for fighting in the parking lot. Also arrested was 18-year-old Jamal Smith on charges of disorderly conduct and first-degree harassment in connection to the incident.
Shawndell Phillip Smith, back in February of 2018, led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle. Smith, formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota, pled guilty to operating a vehicle without owner’s consent and eluding and was sent to jail.
