Accused shoplifter arrested after skipping court

MASON CITY – A man accused of shoplifting was arrested after he failed to appear in court.

Garylee Garcia, age 21 of Mason City, was set to appear in court on February 17th but did not show up. A warrant was issued for his arrest and Cerro Gordo deputies went to his house and arrested him.

Garcia and another Mason City man, 21-year-old Chase Froning, were both arrested at Shopko on January 24, 2014 for shoplifting. Garcia remained in jail until February 4th when he finally posted $200 cash bond.

Garcia is being held on $1000 bond at this time pending a court date.

Froning pled guilty on February 11th to 3rd degree theft and was sentenced to 6 days in jail and a $625 fine.  He owes $1,068.75 in fines and court fees.
