Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS – Police say a man’s body was pulled out of the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids after he was reported missing earlier.

At 11:44 AM on Monday, March 2, 2020, a kayaker reported seeing a body in the Cedar River near the Prairie Creek Fishery, which is located in the 2100 block of Otis Road SE.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the scene and located the body in the river caught on some debris. Firefighters, accompanied by a Crime Scene Unit officer from the Police Department, were able to recover the victim.

Investigators have determined that the victim is Justin Robert Johnson, DOB/06-01-1977, age 42. Johnson was reported missing on November 5, 2019. He was last seen walking near the Hy-Vee at 20 Wilson Avenue SW shortly after midnight on November 4, 2019.

The death does not appear to be suspicious, however there is an ongoing investigation pending autopsy results. The victim was recovered this morning wearing the same clothing that he was reported to have been wearing the night that he was last seen.

No further information is available at this time.
