A grant of $150,000 from the from Iowa Wastewater and Drinking Water Treatment Financial Assistance Fund will help build a new wastewater treatment facility that will employ UV disinfection in Nora Springs. The project will cost $8,424,029, the state says.
The Iowa Wastewater and Drinking Water Treatment Financial Assistance Fund was created in 2018 to give grants to water and wastewater projects. The Fund was established by Senate File 512 and is described in Iowa Code Section 16.134.
The grant priorities are for disadvantaged communities, projects that will significantly improve water quality in the watershed, projects that use alternative wastewater treatment technologies and other qualifications.
The grant awardees are determined by a committee consisting of the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture (or designee), the Executive Director of the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) (or designee), and the Director of the Iowa DNR (or designee).

If Osage can provide utilities to their city , Nora Sorings can also. It’s time the city does what’s best for the town and residents.
Nora Sorings City counsel NEEDS TO LOOK INTO PROVIDING THEIR OWN GAS AND ELECTRIC TO THEIR RESIDENTS!! The city would prosper, lower rates for residents and grow population. If unable to provide their own electric and gas to residents they need to bring in another company so residents have a choice besides Alliant Energy. Recent findings on Alliant over charging customers by the IUB IS reason enough. Customers have been complaining for years knowing their bills were higher then should be. It took absolute pressure for the IUB to rule against and demand refunding customers. The IUB also needs investigated if it took them thus long to do any thing about misconduct and mismanagement. The refunded amount should be way higher and many more years looked at of mismanagement. Nora Springs Residents DEMAND another choice be brought in. So far Nora Sorings sits and does nothing for their residents as other cities do. Weak.
