CHARLES CITY – A runaway trailer smashed a mailbox in Charles City and a man was cited with a misdemeanor for the accident.
On July 31, 2019 at 221 PM, officers with the Charles City Police Department investigated a single vehicle accident in the 1500 block of Cleveland Avenue. A 2003 Ford F350 truck driven by 24-year-old Jordan Kellogg of Charles City was south bound on Cleveland Avenue when a red 1997 dump trailer came unhooked from his truck and ended up down the road on Cleveland Avenue in the east bound part of the shoulder.
There was no damage to the trailer and no one was injured in the accident, but, the trailer had taken out a mail box in the 1400 block of Cleveland Avenue causing an estimated $100 in damages.
As a result, Clark was cited for failure to use proper tow equipment- a simple misdemeanor. The estimated damage to his truck was $1,000.00.
Police warned afterward, “Please always remember to hook up your safety chains on trailers. Just covered an accident on Cleveland Avenue which could have been much worse. Fortunately just a post and mailbox were struck.”
Local idiot doesnt know how to hook a trailer up and ignores the safety chains which he probably would have used incorrectly anyhow. local man lucky he didnt kill child riding bike or old person walking dog. local man an idiot who deserves to be beaten for this display of intelligence. lucky the trailer didnt hit someone. i can tell you if your trailer hits someone i love i am gonna hit you in the face… a lot of times. ill get an assault charge but your teeth will be gone regardless. what an irresponsible piece of shit. charge him with a federal crime for destroying the mailbox.
Is this boy lucky, it looks like most of the weight was on the front of the trailer causing the tongue to go down. My aunt was killed years ago when a trailer came loose and the tongue came up and went through the driver side of the wind shield, killing her.
Well i do enjoy talking shit to you on occasion, that is truly f***ed up. sorry you had to lose someone to a freak accident. I say they ensure this gentleman never hitchs anything to his truck again as a matter of public safety.
