OBIT: James “Jim” D. Weaver

James “Jim” Weaver, 66, of Eldora, passed away at his home in Eldora on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 15th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Abels Funeral & Cremation Service-Creps Chapel. There will be no formal service and interment will be held privately by the family. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left at www.abelsfuneralhomes.com

Jim was born on November 5, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa to his parents Isaac Vern & Iva LaVonne (Hoy) Weaver. Born and raised in Marshalltown, Jim attended school in Marshalltown, where he graduated with the class of 1970. He later attended college at Marshalltown Community College. After his schooling, Jim joined the family auto parts business in Marshalltown. He later bought his own auto parts store, Eldora Auto Parts, retiring in 2017 after 40 + years in business.

In addition to his business, Jim owned several rental properties in the Eldora area. Jim was a dedicated worker, putting in countless hard hours, serving the communities of Marshalltown and Eldora.

Jim enjoyed golfing, baseball (Go Cubs!) but what he truly enjoyed was spending time with his family, especially his children & grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his children Catherine “Cat” (Ben) Potter of Hudson, IA and John Weaver of Abilene, TX; grandchildren Jerry Weaver, Evelyn Potter, and one on the way; best friend and care giver Mary Weaver of Steamboat Rock, IA; siblings Bonnie (Dave) Moody, Patricia Murphy and John (Vicki) Weaver. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister Katie Chaumont and brother Robert “Bob” Weaver.
