Drake beats Iowa, but Makenzie Meyer scores 7 points

DES MOINES – Former Mason City Mohawk Makenzie Meyer scored 7 points in Iowa’s 81-76 loss to Drake Sunday in Des Moines.

Drake jumped out to an early 7 point lead and Iowa led in the game for less than 3 minutes as Drake stayed in control, building a 13 point lead in the 4th quarter. Makenzie Meyer played 28 minutes, tallying 7 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block with no turnovers.

Ally Disterhoft led Iowa with 24 points. Caitlin Ingle led Drake with 20 points. Disterhoft now ranks sixth on Iowa’s all-time career scoring list (1,756 Points). She moves past former Hawkeye Franthea Price.

Sophomore Megan Gustafson registered the 16th double-double of her career and seventh of the season (20 Points, 11 Rebounds).

Iowa returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 20, hosting Kent State.
