From Chris Watts, Candidate for Cerro Gordo Supervisor:

Hello folks.

A few weeks back, we were voting for a new City councilman. We were not voting Republican or Democrat – we were voting for the person and their vision for Mason City. I ask you to keep this in mind when voting this Tuesday.

I have that vision for Cerro Gordo county.

Change will happen with your vote this Tuesday.

I would appreciate your MARK by my name on the ballot.

INDEPENDENT or DEMOCRAT – especially if you vote straight Democrat – you can STILL GO OVER & PUT A MARK BY CHRIS WATTS

This is the real game changer in this election. Some voters are not aware of this voting right. Many people I encountered going door to door are under the presumption that if you vote STRAIGHT Democrat or Republican, it is an all or none issue. But as law allows, you can still vote straight party AND still put a mark by any other name you desire. And I would appreciate that mark by my name.

Please get the word out.

I have been attending the Board of Supervisor meetings for over 8 years now and feel I can hit the ground running.

Our County is in serious need for change. I believe in TERM LIMITS and WIND ENERGY. Look at EVERY County around us. The tax revenue from their windmills is being used to fix their roads and bridges. Good infrastructure attracts good business!

We are a few years behind our neighboring counties, currently. With your vote for Chris Watts, this can happen here in Cerro Gordo County.

More transparency, better representation of the rural areas are important to me. This is about the county in whole, not just the metro area.

I met some really great people going door to door. I started July 5th and finished late Wednesday evening. Pretty much every night and every weekend. Saturday’s were anywhere from 8 to 11 hour walks. Every farm to the Floyd County line and every farm to the Franklin County line. Every apartment and house in the City that is in District 3. I heard many concerns that need addressing. Many new ideas.

Most importantly, many new friends!

Again, I ask for your mark of confidence this Tuesday.

For a better Cerro Gordo County,

Chris Watts

  1. Time to flip this thing Vote!Watts-Latham these are men who love their communities.New blood is sometimes what you need to get too next level and some new ideas never thought of before. It is the only way things ever change in government.

  2. His sledding hill was a flop, but I respect his valiant effort. The bushes along the bike trail on 19th street are also nice.

  3. Watts has been involved for years-volunteering his free time to make his community a better place.
    Latham has also.
Phil & Jay–what have they done short of collecting their paycheck & benefits?
Chris & Tim stand for change and Cerro Gordo desperately needs this new blood.

    1. Well said!!
We need change in the Courthouse.
We all need to find their names on the ballot and see this happen!

  4. Your post about wind energy is pretty generic not much to it, of course it is private enterprise, how else? Our government. Dictates how many are placed on the grid however they don’t profit. I would say you misinformed regarding 30 percent tax base, if your correct on that percent it is huge! I would suggest you do better homework before you make comments, basically, low grade intelligence.

    1. Tax.iowa.gov. Wind farm property tax credit: 100% exemption in yr 1, decreases 5% per year to 70% exemption for next 20 years.

Production tax credit (refundable income tax credit): programs.dsireusa.org

  5. The current supervisors have encouraged wind energy. Cerro Gordo has wind farms where best suited; private enterprise determines location. Property tax is limited on those, anyway. Max of 30% value and it can only get to 30% over time.

Watts is an ok guy but he is misleading, or uninformed, about wind farms.

  6. Chris Watts has been very faithful at attending County Supervisor meetings, and has worked incredibly hard to understand the issues that confront county government. He would be a very dedicated public servant, and deserves an opportunity to serve. Vote for Chris Watts on November 8th!

  7. come on voters its time for a change so vote for WATTS and LATHAM to get some new blood in Cerro Gordo County.
