Oelwein man with no driver’s license caught speeding through Cerro Gordo county

MASON CITY – An Oelwein, Iowa man was caught speeding through Cerro Gordo county last week and was jailed.

Dustin Robert Hekel, age 35, was stopped by the Iowa State Patrol as he traveled through Cerro Gordo county. Hekel has no driver’s license and is a barred driver. He also could produce no proof of insurance and was charged with driver 11 to 15 miles per hour over the speed limit of 55.

Hekel pled not guilty to the speeding charge and will face a trial next April. He will be arraigned on November 3 on the driving while barred charge. He posted $2,000 bond and was released from jail.
