MASON CITY – Police caught a man messing with another person’s vehicle and discovered illegal drugs before taking him to jail.
After midnight on June 2, Mason City police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 1400 block of 4th Street SE. Police were told that a subject was looking through a vehicle. After an investigation, officers located 18-year-old Tristen Marcelle Johannessen of Mason City. He was found to have been consuming alcohol and was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested on those charges (underage consumption and possession of a controlled substance) and a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle.
Johannessen was jailed and released later that day, as he awaits a June 19 court date.
