MASON CITY – The Band Fest parade in Mason City was held in perfect spring weather Saturday.
The parade kicked off at 10 AM and lasted about 2 hours, traveling east on State Street. Many businesses, organizations – and even some high school bands – participated.
Lake Mills and Osage put on highly entertaining shows during the 77th Band Fest parade. Some of the floats were quite detailed; one featured a car wreck with a “corpse” on the hood, kids wreatling in mud, another was a smoking train, and Cutting Edge Tree Service featured owner Kevin Hardy suspended up to 40 feet in the air.
There was also a car show that was heavily attended, and the carnival was packed Saturday. Rain hampered attendance Sunday.

I just wish the organizers would get something figured out so there aren’t so many gaps.
I was told the gaps are because of the bands being judged.
Could someone tell me why Newman band never wears uniforms? Can’t afford them lol
Glad the weather held off so they could get the parade in. Those kids work very hard getting ready for it.
