DES MOINES – NIACC sophomore Hannah Palmeter placed eighth in the 1,500-meter run at the Jim Duncan Invitational university/college division in a school-record time of 4 minutes, 37.32 seconds.
Palmeter broke her old school mark of 4:42.19 set at last year’s national junior college meet.
Also for the NIACC women Saturday, sophomore Sharon Toako was third in the javelin with a toss of 39.38 meters. Rellie Kaputin, who won the long jump on Friday, placed third in the triple jump with a school record leap of 12.23 meters and Palmeter was fourth in the 800 in a time of 2:17.63.
In the men’s university/college 1,500, freshman Trey Simons placed sixth in a school record time of 3:56.76. He broke his old school mark of 4:00.85 at the Cornell College Invitational on April 4, 2015.
In the men’s 800, Imad Amenzou was fourth in 1:54.26. Simons was ninth in 1:56.26, Oryiane Espeut was 12th in 1:57.43 and John Enright was 13th in 1:57.42.
