Law enforcement team up to chase down Iowa man after violent crime

INDEPENDENCE, IA – An apparently out-of-control man was chased down and arrested this week after a disturbance in a small Iowa town.

On Thursday, April 09, 2015 at approximately 10:30 PM, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office received 911 reports of a disturbance with possible shots fired in the 400 block of Eastt Sufficool Street in Hazleton, Iowa. Once deputies arrived on scene, they were told that a male had left the area heading northbound on Highway 150. Deputies later located the male driving back southbound on Hwy 150 from Hwy 281 north of Hazleton. A pursuit was initiated and ended a short time later south of Hazleton on Hwy 150. Buchanan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Kim Robin Tielebein, age 47, of Hazleton.

Following the pursuit, Tielebein was arrested and charged with second offense Operating While Intoxicated (aggravated misdemeanor), Driving While License Revoked (serious misdemeanor), Eluding (class D felony) and Reckless Driving (simple misdemeanor). Tielebein was also cited for Driving on the Wrong Side of Road, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device, Speed Violation and Failure to Give Signal.

For the original disturbance call, Tielebein was arrested and charged with one count of second degree Criminal Mischief (class D felony), two counts of Domestic Abuse assault (aggravated misdemeanor), one count of Assault with a Weapon (aggravated misdemeanor) and one count of Reckless Driving (simple misdemeanor). Tielebein is being held at the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office on a $50,000 cash bond. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.
