MASON CITY – A stand-off after an alleged choking incident will result in only a misdemeanor for a Mason City man.
Philip Geilenfeld, age 54 refused to come out of his house at 221 25th Street SW when police ordered him to do so on February 14, 2015. A woman who was injured first left the house, and only after an hours-long stand-off and the deployment of an MRAP vehicle did Geilenfeld finally surrender. He was charged with felony domestic abuse assault involving strangulation and first degree harassment.
Geilenfeld entered a guilty plea on February 26 to domestic assault causing injury. He is set to be sentenced on March 9, 2015. So far, he has been ordered to pay $1,000 in court fees.
Big deal. He will be back on the street in two days and will probably move right back in with the same woman.
