MASON CITY – On Saturday, January 24, the MCHS Instrumental Music Department held its 6th annual Showcase Concert.
Admission to the concert was simply a donation for Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, with a goal of collecting 2,500 items.
According to school officials, the students not only met their goal, “but blew the roof off of it” by collecting 3,150 items (1,883 pounds of food and approximately $600). Section contests were held the week prior to this showcase with the Symphonic Band trombones being the overall winner.
Overall throughout the history of this event, the Instrumental Music Department students have collected over 10,000 items for Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.
