WATERLOO – Three young girls who were allegedly abducted in Linn county were found safe in Waterloo late Wednesday, however, a woman who may be their mother is dead and police are seeking a man for questioning.
An Amber Alert for 8-year-old Brooklyn Gaffney, 6-year-old Mia Gaffney and 8-month-old Nevaeh Hogan was cancelled at about 11:15 PM Wednesday evening after Waterloo police located them. Earlier, in Walker, Iowa, a woman was found dead with multiple injuries along a road who may be their mother.
In connection with that incident, police are seeking Shaun Michael Hogan, a 36-year-old African-American male who is 6′-3″ tall and about 250 lbs. Law enforcement said that he is suspected of taking the three girls in a red, four-door 2001 Pontiac Grand Am with license plate number 832YPC. He should be considered armed and dangerous and not confronted. Police advise anyone who sees him or knows his whereabouts to call 911.
